About Me

Thank you for visiting my blog!  I love learning, and this gives me the opportunity to connect and learn from so many amazing educators.  That's why I originally started blogging, but then, I realized because I was writing so much, I was a becoming a better writing teacher.  It was easier for me to explain concepts to my students because I was practicing those same concepts frequently in my blog.

This year marks my 8th year of teaching, and my 4th year in middle school.  Teaching middle school Language Arts is something I had never really considered until I started doing it, and now I can't imagine teaching any other grades.  There is something about seeing kids find themselves during those middle school years that is nothing short of breathtaking.  I have experience working with struggling readers, ELL students, students on an IEP, co-taught classrooms, and high-ability students.  I am a Teacher Consultant for Writing Project, and highly recommend Writing Project to anyone and everyone.  It was truly the PD that changed my teaching.

I am a Disney fanatic that married , Greg, who is not a Disney fanatic, just in case you couldn't tell from the picture! Ha!  We have a 4-year-old son, Jackson, who loves anything Star Wars and hates when I ask him to practice writing his name.  In our house, we cheer for Kentucky (Go Cats!), drink sweet tea by the gallons, and could watch Tangled all day long.
